Best Day EVER!!!

WOW. So yesterday was amazing! My work sponsors the Boy Scouts and they do this fundraiser called Go-To-Camp, where 4 of your employees get to go spend a day playing at the camp which is just outside Monroe. Lucky me, being in the right place at the right time, got to go, as did Amanda, my dear work friend. So here is what we did:

We did a "Lashing Challenge." You "lash" (or tie in the special boy scouts way) together three long logs into a tripod, and then hang a bucket of water from the tripod. This is what you would do to heat water over a fire. Then you fill the bucket with water and then carry the whole assembly about 50 feet and they measure how much water you lost and record your time. The whole day is a competition between all the companies there. Very fun.

Then we did archery, then off to the rifle range - where, I am proud to say, I did a darn good job!!!

Next Amanda and another guy from our team did this crazy high ropes course (35 feet in the air, harnessed in) while me and our other team member did a compass and GPS scavenger hunt through the woods. Unfortunately, our GPS was acting up so we ended up taking a 3 mile hike in midday sun for nothing . . . rggh.

Lunch, then off to the 40 foot climbing wall. I decided to start at the easy side and man did it scare the living daylights out of me. I was hurrying up to the top just so I could be done!! I fell off the wall about 2/3 the way up, but decided to keep going and leaped for my handhold, grabbing it the second time around. I got to the top, rang the bell of triumph, then took a break before repelling down - also scary, but only at first.

Finally, we went to the shotgun range and beat the tar out of some clay pigeons, then ended by throwing tomahawks Mel Gibson style into huge tree rounds, and attempting to throw knives as well, but I didn't do so well there.

Then I jumped in my car and headed down to Renton for Jerret and Erika's wedding. It was a nice little ceremony, and Angelo really got the reception jumpin. I danced all night and had a blast! What fun. Our community group had a great time together. We decorated the getaway car, taught the Electric Slide and the Macarena to Jerret's parents and showed them some basic salsa steps.

In general, it was a great party for our group and I had a fantastic day all together. And can you believe I actually got paid for that Go-To-Camp thing? Yes please!!!
