I got a promotion today. But they don't have any money to give raises, so whatever. I am thankful enough to have a job in our floundering industry anyway, and I appreciate that they seem to finally appreciate the hard work I have put in. I guess it all feels so meaningless. Ry woke me up from my nap with a beautiful bouquet of congratulations roses and is taking me out to celebrate tonight so maybe I'll get excited.
In the end, it really is all meaningless. I am doing really well at my job. But one day, I'll leave it and take care of my kids. Thinking about that makes me feel like part of me will die a little bit, and I get a little scared, but what I do is only temporary. Work is just that.
So yeah, I guess I got a promotion.

CONGRATS!!! Glad to see they are aware of how remarkable you are! Hope you perk up a bit... and I know that when you're a mom you'll still be as talented (maybe more!) and will be rocking this world. :o)
You know, there's no rule that says you can't keep working on projects after kids arrive :) It may be part time or on a per project basis but there's lots of possibilities! No interior design death necessary. Because you are FABULOUS at what you do.
