I'm 19. A teenager. Young. Haven't been in the real world yet. Green. Still wet behind the ears for Pete's sake. Well, at least I thought so.
Sunday. Lunch with old friend. Mention new study of Interior Design. "ooh," he says. "Want to do my office?" Business card given, lunch becomes a write-off business affair, because hey, he just met with his new Interior Designer. Whoa.
Monday. Grab my tape measure and head to his new downtown office, across from the Bon and the Westlake Center. Thank you very much sir, may I have another? Take meticulous measurements. Begin rough draft on graph paper. Sit down by the air conditioner. Draft number two, but to scale. Monday night, work on floor plan. Have design essentially finished 8 hours later.
Tuesday. Add finishing touches. Laugh because everything John wanted was already in my plan. Does God inspire of what?! Call a meeting.
Wednesday. Decide to bring two plans. Hmm. Another act of God. Art, his partner shows up. Oh, what do you know, a plan for each. Walk them through the space. Measure. Explain visions of sheer delight. They love it, they are amazed and decide there just might be something to this whole school thing. Lunch at Isabella's. Note to self. Find and marry owner of this amazing Italian restaurant! Red walls and ceilings! Get offered second job by business partner designing cabin on peninsula. Thank you sir. Another? Shake hands. Inner scream. Laugh at where God is taking me.
Thursday. Working at Trashbusters. A check is brought by. More than I make in two weeks! On one simple job. I actually could get into this whole design thing :)
Is God good? Or is God good? Who would have ever known I could be called to something so materialistic. But God in all things! He inspired me! He protected me. He gave me my ideas or at least the mind to think. Praise Him from whom ALL blessings flow.
