Ahoy, I Caucus!

Today, Ryan and I attended our first ever presidential caucus!

It started with us parking and getting into a long line to enter the school gym. "Wow! This was going to be fun," I thought. I heard someone say, "This must be the line for Ron Paul." I let out a little woo-hoo. Then another guy laughed about how he was voting for Romney and brought his 5 wives along. Then I noticed the signs on the doors saying Clinton and Obama. Were both the democratic and republican caucuses in the same place? And then it hit me. We were in the wrong place!!

So we high-tailed it around the other side of the block to the itsy-bitsy teeny-tiny Queen Anne community center and walked into a room filled with maybe 100 people, where as the line for the democratic caucus was over 200 people just waiting to get in! Wow, we really are a minority here in Seattle!!

So we went in, and looked for signs of our precinct number. Much to our surprise, nobody was there from our precinct, so we picked up our packet and became the representatives, waiting for others to show up and join us. But none did! So as things began, we realized that it was just me (since Ryan isn't registered to vote in Seattle yet). So, as directed, I called for nominations for the chairman, and nominated me :o). (we had to do it outloud). I called three times and then elected myself the chair of precinct 1771. Then we took a vote on who would be the delegate. Surprisingly, I won!! So we filled out our little attendance sheet (again, just me), and it was done!

So there it is. One delegate for Ron Paul. It took 45 minutes of my life with no opposition.

Liberty was never so easy.
