Favorite Spots

I have a variety of favorite spots.
One is where I am right now. Sitting at my kitchen table, with my little girl peacefully sleeping away in her swing right next to me with sunlight pouring in through the windows. The only thing that makes this spot potentially dangerous is the box See's chocolate staring at me through their shiny white packaging.

Another spot I love is my bed. This is not a new love. I have always loved the essence of "bed." I planned my wedding in bed. I eat breakfast in bed. I watch movies in bed. I read in bed. I pay bills in bed. I cuddle my husband and my baby in bed. Bed is good.

My third favorite place in our home is sitting in our rocking chair. From there, I can see the bright green of our living room next to the dark turquoise of the fireplace which is brightened happily by the peppy buttercream yellow of our dining room. It is made even cheerier (if even humanly possible with that perfect shade of yellow) by the sunlight streaming in through the french doors, which show me the natural beauty of our backyard, enormously tall trees, and a peekaboo view of the Olympic mountains.

Yes, these are happy places, in a happy little home. It is ours for now, not forever, but while we are here, I nestle, I snuggle, I rock and I enjoy the gift of today - that's why its called the present!
