Colorizzle

Well, we are officially in Colorado. What an adventure :o)

Julia is sleeping upstairs . . . in the bathoom. Dad and Jenny have gone to bed in what was our room, but we did a big shuffle due to picky Miss Pickersons. Ryan has been working on my Dad's "security camera" network all day (he actually is using them just to see the wildlife walking around when he's on the other side of the world), and I now sit here with a good book by the fire, one generator-powered lamp (no electricity), and will eventually make my way to bed in one of the most beautiful log cabins I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

Highlights of today:

Dad lit some gunpowder in a dish - in the kitchen - on fire.

I baked "at altitude" for the first time.

I met my very first real live Amish person. Crazy beard and all!

We saw about 20 deer and a few large bucks on our sunset drive through the hills. SO AMAZING!

Jenny felt sick so had some DayQuil, a bunch of wine and chocolate, and now feels much better :o)

I am reading the new marriage book by Pastor Mark and Grace Driscoll - so shocked at their level of transparency. It brings such hope!!

I wore my "jeggings" and snow boots for the first time today, and now I feel like I belong in Colorado.

Our hot water heater is not cooperating, leaving us with fresh-off-the-mountain frigid water, so I'll be washing my face with water heated on the wood stove. On the upside, the tap water tastes like HEAVEN!

This trip has already been so lovely (except for the screaming all-nighter Julia pulled two nights ago, but nobody wants to hear about that - long story short, we decided to let her live, but it was a close one), and now we're thinking about never leaving.

There is one other thing that I feel I need to mention. There are buckshot "wounds" all over two of the brand new split-log stairs. Lets just say my Dad came in and there was a rat. There is a rat no more. Welcome to Colorado.
