So, my Dad and Jenny love animals. There have been very few times (think hours folks) within the last 10 years that they have not had at least 4 dogs, 4 cats (one who STILL thinks she is a dog) a gaggle of chickens, and wild horse and donkey visitors.
The other day, my Dad called to tell me that they picked up a 5th dog. It was a stray. No surprise there, because almost all the dogs on Grand Turk are "stray." But this one was still a teeny weeny pup. It was in a little box for transport when they brought it home to meet the other 4 full-grown dogs. Now this one was so tiny that one of the big dogs could've killed it with a friendly lick, but when those big dogs came near the pup, he let out the biggest, most surprising growl/bark/"I'm gonna kill you if you take one step further" thing.
My Dad laughs because Julia does something similar. When she gets hot-tempered, she does this death scream - something similar to Braveheart, like she's gonna run at you with a spear and conquer you in the name of freedom from tyrannical opression. So, she has rightly earned the loving nickname of Baby Braveheart.
So when they were deciding what to name this little pup with a big bark, they decided they'd call it Braveheart in honor of Julia. But then they decided it needed to be even more accurate than that.
My Dad and his wife now have a pup named Julia. If they loved their dogs any less this might be insulting, however, I find it quite adorable instead. :o)
