Snippets

There are so many snippets of life I want to blog about. I daily think, "Oh, I should write about that! :o) " (and yes, the smiley is inside my thought - because I'm smiling when I think it.....)

So here are some of my favorite life snippets of late:

Today I dug a huge flower bed and planted sunflowers. The soil is crap and I'm too cheap to buy anything, so we'll see how it goes.

A couple days ago, as Julia was bathing, she said "banana" in an upset voice. She reached out to hand me the banana from her bath. I wondered how in the world she ever managed to get a banana in her bath. Turns out, it was not a banana. It was brown.

My sister and her fam are moving half-time to Sequim. My heart is already starting to break. I'm sick of my beloveds being far away. My Dad in Grand Turk. My mom in Oregon. The Gillespies in California. Autumn in Hawaii. Jessica in Arizona. Amber on the peninsula. And now my sister to Sequim. Can we just all make a deal and everyone moves back to Seattle? Or will someone invent teleportation already? I bet Steve Jobs was working on that before he died.

Julia wants a baby. We do too.

I have my neighbor's lovely dark purple lilacs in a wine bottle vase on my fireplace. They are lovely. So is my neighbor. I'm starting to develop a casual "Hi" relationship with our neighbors. Working in the yard has helped. Its amazing how much more you talk to people when you are in your yard.

Tonight a 50-something man and his two dogs were taking a very very slow walk. His dogs both were white on the muzzle and walked with that special walk that bigger dogs have after years of playing Stick, Ball and Chase. I casually asked him how it was going as he passed me by. He grinned and said, "Well, we are at a full sprint right now." We both laughed. What a nice little neighborly interchange.

Well, that's enough for tonight. I have a date with my (Sharon's) sewing machine and a movie while Ryan is out with a buddy.

:o)
