So Cari, we heard you recently had an interview for your first full-time position as a college graduate. Tell us a little about that.
Well, it was quite the adventure. It turns out the hotel project I did, which I am very pleased with, was coincidentally a hotel this particular firm designed and is sitting downtown Seattle right now. Our professor actually got the original plans from them and modified the drawings.
Wow, that must have been a little nerve-racking to present a project that your interviewers had not only already seen, but completed successfully.
Indeed it was. I was nervous as they brought out this hugely thick bound document of plans for their hotel, but it turns out, much of our space-planning was similar. They seemed impressed that the project was completed in 10 weeks, but then again, the interviewers were very hard to read.
So when do you expect to hear back from the firm?
Well, I am hoping some time next week. But in the mean time, I think I might need to be getting a money-making part time job.
Not just enjoying the last part of your senior year?
Well, I am hoping to travel for a few weeks this summer to Europe with my long-time dear heart extroardinare, Sharon. We are now looking at going to Florence. It started as a 6 week trip, down to a month, and now only about 2 weeks. We'll see. I know God is in control.
So how is your last quarter of undergraduate work going? well?
Absolutely. I have a super light load this quarter. I am taking 5 credits of French (which is killing me because I want to be able to speak fluently, but I have to remember that I have not been studying it for too long. Anyways, I have an independent study and a 2 credit Portfolio class.
And are you still singing?
I am singing with Concert Choir, no longer with Unlimited.
And how is that going?
Well, I love Concert Choir. We are doing some beautiful Latin pieces, one titled "Tangola." It is amazing.
And how it is going without Unlimited?
Different, good, hard etc. I see the set lists left up on the chalkboards and am glad I am not really missing out on any music I love dearly. But its the fun relationship time I miss. My favorite thing is every time I see Julie Ide in choir, she gives me the dearest hug and tells me how much she misses me. I know my place will never be filled by another and that makes me feel loved.
Well, all in all, it sounds like things are going well. What's new in the journey for a church?
Ryan and I are looking into plugging in at Mars Hill. We were gonna take the membership class, but it just isn't the right time. We're pretty happy at Mars Hill though. We'll see.
Well, thanks for talking with us. We look forward to hearing another update soon.
My pleasure. Enjoy.
