Creating Music
There have been a small handful of times when creating music has truly touched me in a profound way. Playing "Farandole" with the Youth Symphony gave me a crazy adrenaline rush of sheer excitement (that could have been the fact that my flute and I were hanging on for dear life!!). Every once in a while, when performing with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in high school, I'd shed a tear as the sound grew and arose a sense of honor and glory in my soul. When singing "A Mighty Fortress" with Concert Choir while flanking the church aisles, I could feel the joy the angels must have when singing in heaven.
But never have I experienced such deep calm and particular joy and fulfillment in music than when I had the privilege of singing this song with my sweet friend, Julie Ide:
