We are currently "vacationing" in Sequim, to which my beloved Amber joked that it is like us vacationing in Lynnwood or Marysville :0) But it's all of our families together, sort of like a church Family Camp, so it's happy time for us all!
We rotate meal prep and we do building and yard projects, including putting up a crazy foam temporary wall so Amber, Tom and Thor could have a sort-of-bedroom-area.
Tom, Ryan, Jenny and Dad went fishing this morning at 4am and caught us this big ol' king salmon! They go back to pull the crab pots at 3. Amber asked this morning when they were supposed to be back and just as I told her, "They said an hour about an hour ago, so probably nowish..." we looked up to see the boat, freshly parked, enormous butt end right smack in front living room window on the grass :o) So yeah, I think they're home now.
Yesterday was so sunny, warm and clear that we spent most of the day on the back deck. Mosey (black lab extroardinaire with a curly pig tail) got a bath with baby shampoo and Thor and Jules learned about just how fun hoses can be on hot days!!! Thor did pull-ups on the hottub bar, obviously posturing himself in competition for Julia's future love :0)
Mornings include playtime, coffee, homemade biscotti, lots of chats and a big sit down breakfast. Actually, almost all of our meals have been a full sit-down for all 13 of us (8 adults, 2 big kids, 3 babies in high chairs, laps or floor play)! My dad was huge on sit down meals growing up and I love it!!
After breakfast yesterday, we had a "family creativity session" where my dad explained the farm situation, goals, ideas, how to make investments here, and we all talked about ideas we like and dreamt about the possibilities this little 60-acre piece of earth might hold for us. Very exciting!!
Dad has actually had an agenda to make every day intentional which is so not like him, and totally awesome! He's really digging into the father as mentor role and we are all ravenously (and joyfully) devouring it!!
Our evenings have included Dad-discussion time around the campfire, loungy (sp?) latenight chats in the living room, silly games and hottub under the stars time. Yay!! (All brought to you by the amazingly fabulous video baby monitor!!!!!)
Well, we just finished an all-house/all-family 2 hour nap, and Julia is ready to play, so back to Camp we go!!
