Bellevue Presbyterian Church - sang with choir - excellent sermon!

The Guiding Light:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, not a 10 year plan. Foot lamps guide the next step. This causes us to lean heavily on the Lord, causing relationship.
Under God's leadership, failure is never fatal, just directional. When Paul tried to take the Word to Asia, he failed and went to Europe instead. When we say no to what may seem the perfect job, God provides an absolutely better alternative.
What looks like nothing often becomes a big something. When God is guiding, there are no dead ends.
As christians, it is easy to confuse hardship with abandonment. Our walk is hard, but rewarding. Paul was sent to prison for healing the servant girl, but led the jailer to Christ.

How do we access this guidance?
Reading the bible - it tells us what God's priorities are, it shows us his heart.
Talking to trusted Christian friends.
Prayer and truly listening for His voice. Relaxing and letting all thoughts come out, worrying in God's presence to clear your mind.

Small story: The pastor was trying to get directions to a certain place. Nobody was giving him any concrete information, so one man said he'd take them. He got in their Jeep and drove them through the woods etc and finally got them to their destination. It was a bit scarier, more adventurous, less controlled, but they were more on track. They wanted a map, when what they got was a guide.

Jesus is our guide.
