TO SLEEP IN, or not to sleep in. That was definetely not a hard question.
Thursday night at 11:40 pm PST, I boarded a flight and leaped over to Dallas. Then to Miami and then to Providenciales and finally to the small Island of Grand Turk, finishing at 3:30 EST. A short wait for my Dad, and a drive to the hotel where a cool drink and friendly faces were welcoming my return. Lunch of Spaghetti Bolognese (sp?) and some beach time. Soon thereafter was dinner, and let me just say the desserts here are amazing. Anna Mae (a delightfully large islander) makes the best key lime pie with actual limes from the Keys (Florida). Who would have ever thought. We went home and I climbed in bed at about 9:30, which is 6:30 your time.
Up at 6:30 with the donkeys, roosters, dogs and chickens. But not for long. A slight roll to one side and the noise was lost in a pillow, much to my delight. 10:30 rolled around and I pulled out the book I started yesterday. And by 12:15, it was finished. A good book, but very deep, which can be hard sometimes. Called Wisdom Hunter, very recommended.
Got up and headed to the hotel with Jenny after having a breakfast of old toast, my favorite, really! Promptly took a long walk on the beach, sat in the sand, letting the waves crash over me, and got sand everywhere. A quick rinse in the ocean and I was off again.
To the bar I went! A few drinks (Perier) later, I went grocery shopping for Jenny. Came back and did some reading on the beach and listened to some island music. Dad is on the deck talking to Tupper Saucy via ichat, his new Imac paving the way. It's weird to see MY dad on a computer and actually liking it! And now, after wonderful reunions with friends, it is dinner time. And the prime rib is coming my way!
